Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

Shakow saidMundocani i got a question in regards to the syncronization issue. When i turn on group calendar i have to shut off all my other addons or it crashes my system due to the fact that the syncronization takes so much of my cpu. Also about half the time in any major city it will crash me whether i have addons running or not. Any suggestions.

Mystradk saidHi
EDIT: Ups! Just noticed that I am runing an old version of Group calendar, so disregard this post. Sorry.
EDIT 2: hmm I'm confused. I just downloaded version 4.1 and if I open the file GroupCalendar.toc then it says it is version 4.1b5. This means that I properly did have the newest version all along and therefore error is properly still in there.
I stumbled across this taint when I randomly checked my taint.log file. There is around 20 taints in total therefore I'm only linking one (see below). They all seem to make the taint in relation to "voicechat.lua" and "UIParent.lua".
An action was blocked in combat because of taint from GroupCalendar - VoiceChatTalkersButton1:Hide()
Interface\FrameXML\VoiceChat.lua:112 finishedFunc()
Interface\FrameXML\UIParent.lua:2173 UIFrameFadeUpdate()
UIParent:OnUpdate()
I would also like to tell you what I was doing at the time of the error, but I'm not sure at all :S. If I had to come up with a guess at what I was doing then it would be that I might have hit my "Ctrl" button which is linked to the internal voicechat in wow.
Thanks for talking the time to look at the error.
If you would like the full taintlog I'll be happy to send it to you.
Mystra
P.S. happy debugging :)

Mundocani saidThe 4.1b5 in the .toc file is an oversight -- the version number displayed in the Group Calendar UI is correct though and should simply say "4.1" for the release version.

Stralla saidwe have guildies who live in different time zones and when 3 of the sign in, it causes a pop-up saying something about checking the time because others have a different time set. Is there any way to disable this pop-up caused by GC?

Mundocani saidNo it can't be disabled -- that popup means that their clocks are set wrong on their computers. Have them check that they've chosen the correct time zone in the system control panel and that their time and date are set correctly on their computer.
Group Calendar has to synch events between all members of the guild and so it needs to rely on all members having reasonably accurate time settings in order to keep things running smoothly. If any member is too far off (I think I allow something like 10 or 15 minutes or error before the message comes up), then it messes up signup tracking and can also create problems if those members switch to other computers which have the time set correctly.

Stralla saidnot sure why 1 particular person has her clock set the way she does but between her 2 characters and a person in the eastern time zone (I and many other are in central) we get the pop up all time time. it is getting so annoying that I am getting very tempted to just stop using it period. If there is anyway that a check box can be added in the future, i would ask that you consider it.

Mundocani saidNobody should get the popup unless it's their clock that's set wrong. The mechanism I use is a voting system -- you get the message only if three or more people on the network all agree on what time it is and your clock setting disagrees with them.
The only thing that I can think of that could cause it to screw up would be for players who are right around 12 hours off from the server time zone. Could that be the case for you or other players?

wurzel saidI noticed two things with 4.1, first off if you sign up for your own event as maybe and then revisit it, you'll always resign when you check the signups (you see the little "Your_toon has signed up for BT 8/8").
And 2nd the problem with alts running GC aswell which was already posted here - you get the Update / delete message after you log back on to your event-creator toon - even if the alt you were in before just uses it to see the crafting cooldowns and is in a totally different guild (so no shared channel or anything).
Anyways, thx again for the work on this great mod! :)

Mundocani saidThanks, I haven't been able to reproduce the switching to an alt and then back to a main to get the "your events have been updated" message, but I'm still looking and trying. There must be something that happens that leads to it behaving this way, but I'm not sure what. Are your alts on the same realm? If not, is the realm they're on in a different time zone than the one your main is on? Maybe it's something goofy in the way I'm handling time zone differences, I just don't know.

wurzel saidThe 2 alts that have guild calendar enabled are on the same realm. Mb related to the profession cd (tailoring and alchemy in that case) but that's just a wild guess ofc.

sriggins saidSadly, we're going to have to cease using GC 4.1. Daily we're having problems of some people seeing events, others not.
Even on my own two clients (I two box) I made an event on one toon in the guild and the other toon never saw it. Not even after rebuild databases.
We do use a custom channel, not the guild option.

Mundocani saidIf you're two-boxing then my first guess is that you've copied your settings from the WTF folder on one account to the other in order to replicate the UI. This would cause both accounts to think they own the same characters and the second account would ignore updates coming from the first account as a security measure (to prevent someone from attempting to send out events in your name).
The next version of GC will have code to detect this situation and notify you as well as adding a new 'disown' command to allow you to release ownership of characters you unintentionally claimed on multiple accounts.
Good luck with whatever solution you find though. I realize that GC isn't perfect, but doing a multi-user in-game calendar using a peer-to-peer distribution system over a chat channel isn't an easy problem to solve :)

sriggins saidI deleted the GC Saved Variable files but it still doesn't always work.
I love the concept of GC, we're just getting upset guildies who missed a raid because GC didn't show someone elses raid entry.

raithkell saidHey Mundocani,
I'm having the "used a different computer/crashed" message with the option to update or delete. When I click update, it seems to remove a random amount of events from our calendar. I am the ADMIN, but not the event setter. We have 6 events per week set every week...as of right now we have nothing showing for this week, even though all 6 events were there the other day. Please help
Thank you

Mundocani saidUse the Backup tab in Group Calendar to put your events back to what they were before you clicked the Update button.
If you have a friend or spouse who logs into your account from their computer have then disable Group Calendar for all of your characters on their computer. That'll prevent them from processing/publishing data for your calendar.

raithkell saidNo one logs into my character from anywhere. I am the only one that plays it and ONLY on my computer. I do not log in anywhere else. So is there anything else you can think of to why it is happening?
2nd thought...is there a way to setup so the events that have past, do NOT disappear?

Runefire saidMy husband and I both downloaded this mod to us in our guild. For me it works just fine, i can sign up for events/raids with zero problems. Even logging onto my computer *so the mods are the same* it wont work for my husband, when we go to sign him up for a event/raid it will have his toon, let us choose a roll then just says pending, it wont sign him up completely. We've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, reloadui, not touching the mod til the sync is done, my computer, his computer, no mods except cal and just keeps telling us pending. The only error of any sort that we get is when we try to click to use local time vs server time, tells us its a nil value.

Mundocani saidHm, the nil value is odd -- could you post the exact error message for me so I can check that out?
Have your husband log into his account, open Group Calendar, go to the About tab, and click Rebuild Database. That will reconstruct and repair any errors in his data and hopefully will clear up the problem.
Be careful copying settings between your two accounts by the way -- if you copy an account's data from the WTF folder from one account to another make sure to never copy the GroupCalendar.lua file. Copying this file will cause both accounts to think they own the same characters, which will cause conflicts when both accounts are logged in as well as causing both accounts to keep notifying you that changes are being made from another computer. This may not apply in your particular case, but be careful of it regardless.

Mundocani saidI'm sorry but I don't have any control over the Curse download process, you'll need to check the Curse support forums.
It does look like Curse is making some site changes, so possibly they're just having some flakiness for now. I just tried and was able to download so give it another shot.
